Halloween De-Lurk Day!

It's been kinda quiet here on this blogety-blog for the last week or so. Coco started a busy new job, so I'm manning (womaning?) the ship on my own for a bit. I may or may not have mentioned this before, but I am a teeeeeensy weensy bit obsessive when it comes to Halloween, which means that I have spent the last week and a half frantically sewing costumes, prepping for our big Halloween party, and finally cleaning up after our Halloween party instead of watching Kdramas. (Gasp!)
Sadly (fortunately!), I didn't have time to summon any horrifying Kdrama ghost dolls to the party.

So, instead of writing a real post today, I'm declaring it Halloween Blog De-Lurk Day! Whether you've secretly been lurking around our blog like a little ghost or you have been a regular commenter around here, we want to get to know you just a little bit better. I have a list of questions here, and any and all of you are welcome to answer in the comments!

1. At this moment, RIGHT NOW (because I know this probably changes by the minute), what is your favorite kdrama? You can only choose one.
2. Who is your all-time favorite kdrama character and why?
3. What is the best Halloween costume you ever wore?

That's all. We're keeping it simple here.

And, as a sign of good faith, here are my answers:

1. This seriously changes every single day, but my favorite drama right this minute is Sungkyunkwan Scandal. It had a really well-rounded cast and a solid balance of tone throughout the entire thing. It also started my mild obsession with Song Joong Ki.

2. I love love LOVE a lot of kdrama characters. If I had to pick just one to hang out with as best friends, it might be Yoo Jung In from Vampire Prosecutor.  I feel like we would get along really well in real life.

3. I plan Halloween costumes months in advance (but I somehow STILL end up sewing them on the day of the party EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR.), so it's hard to choose just one. One year, my husband sewed light rope into our costumes so that we could be the characters from Tron. That was pretty fun. I think for my overall favorite, though, I'm going to have to go with the year my husband got to pick. He chose zombies, which is boring, but then he let me get things like prescription zombie contacts and fake wounds and stuff, so the end result was pretty creepy.

Happy Halloween, guys! Don't let the gumihos get you!

  1. Haha you guys look amazing in the zonbie photo!

Okay my favourite drama is probably Tamra the Island, mainly because I loved all the characters (except maybe the hilarious french guy who was meant to he English though he does grow on you) but really I watch kdramas for the romance, and this drama has one of the most beautiful romances ever! I love you Park Kyu!

My favourite character is probably Eun Oh the Magistrate from Arang and the Magistrate. He starts off so prickly but when he fell in love he fell hard. Swoon!

And lastly I live in Australia and we just don't really celebrate Halloween here to the same extent as overseas which is kind of sad. Although the zoo did put on a night for little kids so I bought a scary mask but I am afraid that is about the extent of it.... though my city does run a zombie walk every year!

    1. I just barely finished Arang and the Magistrate, so I totally agree with your pick! I haven't ever seen Tamra the Island, but I will put it n my to-watch list!

  2. Aish...I hate picking favorites, I really do.

So, in terms of my favorite drama, I'll just go with the drama that I'm just about finished with (3 episodes left) and that I'm pretty sure will be one of my favorites (because I can NEVER have just one.): School 2013. (It's not my only favorite, but I already stated my dilemma)

MORE FAVORITE QUESTIONS? *deep breath* *cries* For this, I really can't pick a single one. I've only been a Kdrama addict since May... *continues crying* However, I'll just name a short list of SOME of my favorites: Go Nam Soon (School 2013), Joo Joong Won (Master's Sun), Chief Secretary Kim (Master's Sun), Jin Woo (You're the Best, Lee Soon Shin), Kang Min (My Sunshine Girl), and Park Soo Ha (I Hear Your Voice). I just named the characters I've fangirled over the most so far...

But seriously, I named a sock monkey I bought "Park Soo Ha" and now I call Lee Jong Suk my "Socky Tree Monkey."

Best Halloween costume? HA! Dude, I'm in 11th grade and haven't dressed up since I was an 8th grader - all my kid costumes sucked. I'll just type my most original (though it really wasn't): in 6th grade, I dressed up as not only a goth, but a specific goth - Cassie Keller (played by Emily Osment) in one of my favorite movies at the time, Haunting Hour: Don't Think About It.

Hey, at least I only said one drama, as much as I want to type a long list. In truth, it's probably tied with one or two others, but *shrug* you only said to pick one, so... *cries again before going back to fangirl over Go Nam Soon*

Oh, speaking of characters... Ha ha, you never said to pick just one character - merong!

    1. I know! Picking favorites is the worst! But at least you picked some great ones (Secretary Kim! Love him!).

  3. I love the zombie costumes! Those are way more elaborate than anything I ever do. Like you I have a knack for procrastination and am far too lazy to do anything very impressive. The Song Joong Ki obsession is something I'm sure we can all relate to. I started watching Running Man back in 2010 because of him. Can't stop. Won't stop. Can't wait for him to get back from the army, yeah?

I am a bit of a lurker on your blog. I love your videos and posts though!
    1. My favorite drama of all time is a tough question. I think I will have to say Answer Me 1997 though. I could have done without so much of the hyung drama, but I can seriously go back and watch that drama any time and it never gets old. Plus, my first kpop love was Sechkies.
    2. As for my favorite kdrama character - that would probably be Choon-hyang from Delightful Girl. She's creative, funny, and can kick ass when she needs to. I think we could be buds, her and I.
    3. When I was kid I always just wore my Tae Kwon Do uniform for halloween. Last year I went as Wonder Woman and that was kind of fun.

    1. Hahaha my little brother used to wear his soccer uniform every year. When we tried to convince him to get creative, he would put on a little fake blood and be a "wounded soccer player" or "dead soccer player."

  4. Wow! Favorite K-drama...that's a hard one. There are different things about different ones. For now I guess I would say "Oh My Lady!"
As far as characters, I love the men in the side love stories...Jo Jung Suk was amazing as Eun Shi Kyung in"King 2 Hearts" as well as Jung Woo as Seo Jin Wook in "You’re the Best Lee Soon Shin". In both cases the actor made the part.
Hmmm...can't really think of a favorite costume. I tend to wear the same ones year to year. Two of my girls dressed as Weeping Angels from Dr. Who last year and stood at the side of our porch. It was fun watching people try to see if they were real and even more fun when they moved and freaked out the trick-or-treaters.

    1. That sounds awesome and terrifying at the same time. I can't handle haunted houses because things that suddenly come to life freak me out too much!

    2. Me too! One year we went to Universal Studios at Halloween and they had a Mummy Maze (the movie had just come out). I screamed with my eyes half-closed all the way through but the worst was at the end. There was only one small door to exit and the only way there was to pass several giant Anubis creatures that popped out at you. I literally held onto one of my teenage daughter, closed my eyes and ran as fast as I could...screaming all the way. That was my last haunted house.

    02. Um... I don't know T_T eh..maybe Park Shi On from Good Doctor because of all feels he gave me x) so sweet and cute and all *hard to explain in english for me*

    03. A Witch costume when my school had a halloween party, i won for the best costume there (but i really did not dress up so well <.<'')

    1. Master's Sun was one of the best dramas I've seen in a while. So good!

  6. 1) If we are talking all time favorite, that would be a tie between Secret Garden and Sungkyunkwan Scandal...but if we are talking about a current drama we are watching, it would be Secret.
    2) Oh, that's so tough, so many awesome characters to choose from....if I have to pick just one, Kim Joo Won from Secret Garden.
3)We used to throw awesome Halloween parties and always did group costumes with my friends. I think our best was when we did all the characters from the Wizard of Oz. I was the Cowardly Lion. That's been a while ago though...those were fun times!

    1. I love group costumes! One year, Coco tried to get people to join her Alice in Wonderland group for a month, and no one would do it. Then like 10 people randomly showed up at her party in different Harry Potter costumes, forming their own impromptu group, She was so mad!

    2. 'Secret Garden' is my favorite drama as well - so far.
I basically watched it in one sitting!!

  7. Hi,
I'm a lurker around your blog, I've never commented before, but I've read (and loved) all your blogs.
    1. Coffee prince: It is the first K-drama I ever watched, and I have watched it many times since then too, it will always have a special place in my heart. There are lots of others that I love but coffee prince will (probably) always be first.
    2. Lee Yoon Sung (City hunter): This was really hard to choose, but I've been re-watching city hunter recently and I find his inability to express his feelings strangely endearing (also heart-breaking). Also I love Lee Min Ho.
    3. I'm Australian, so I've never dressed up for halloween.

    1. Yay! I'm so glad you de-lurked! Coffee Prince was my first kdrama, too, and it's always in my top 5 favorites at any given moment.

  8. If we must de-lurk, we must. Hey! I've been following you guys for a while. You have, in fact, helped me navigate my newbie self through the Ways of the K-Drama. So many cliches. So much ramen.

    1) Ugh. Coffee Prince? Because everyone is adorable and wonderful. And I have a soft spot for storylines where guys and girls get to be friends, not just lovers. But City Hunter might be about to tie for first place...

    2) You guys ask the tough questions. Gil Ra Im. Self-respect and independence? Yes, thanks, and more characters like that please.

    3) Probably the Halloween party I just went to. My friends and I turned ourselves into constellations.

  9. 1. I watched "The woman who still want to marry" in a marathon. Impossible to stay away. The chemistry between the main couple is amazing, and Kim Bum is the perfect noona-killer.

    2. Lee Yun-Seong, City Hunter. LMH brang a lot of layered in the character. Loved it!

    3. Yip Yip martians ! That was a fun one!

  10. 1. Current favorite: Queen In Hyun's Man - twisty time travel plot with really hot kissing.

    2. Lee Shun Gyun in anything because I just love his voice. I particularly enjoyed him as the arrogant Chef in Pasta.

    3. Dressed up as a zombie for school's haunted house this year. I'm a teacher. I had a blast scarring students.

  11. I'm a kdrama newbie, so I've not watched that many dramas, but so far...

    1. Fave drama - Secret Garden (I don't think there's enough love for the show)
    2. Fave Character - Kim Joo Won from Secret Garden. There was just something quite endearing about the character.
    3. I don't celebrate halloween.
